The buildings by the Ticino architect Mario Botta, which can now be found on three continents, are all characterized by a distinctive sculptural and monumental design language. They are always subject to a simple geometry and appear very compact despite their massiveness - these are also design characteristics that are reflected in Botta's product designs. This is also the case with the Botta 91 chair: he presented it in 1991 on the occasion of Switzerland's 700th anniversary. The lightweight chair made of black painted metal and gray striped fabric was only produced 700 times by the Italian furniture manufacturer Alias; each model is signed and numbered. An equally signed, numbered lithograph by Botta was sold with each piece of furniture. This is also included in the price.
