Italy, 1960s. This set of 8 wooden dining chairs was designed and manufactured by Italian furniture manufacturer Chiavari in the 1960s. Each chair has a black lacquered frame and a raffia seat. Due to their lightweight materials, Chiavari chairs are easy to carry from room to room and add a touch of Italian lightness to any home. Chiavari was founded in 1969 by Giuseppe Chiavari. Once a small furniture manufacturer, the company has since developed the original skills of its team and become one of the most specialized manufacturers of bespoke furniture in Italy. The company is still in the hands of the Chiavari family and places great emphasis on modern technological systems and traditional craftsmanship. The Spinetto chair model is famous for being the inspiration for Gio Ponti's Superleggera chair. Place of Origin: Italy Period: 1960 – 1969 Date of Manufacture: ca. 1960
