Space Age Sputnik Chrome Pendant Lamp by Gaetano Sciolari Vintage

This pendant lamp was made in the Space Age period of the 70s and consists of 11 lights in E14 format. This unique chandelier is also known as the "dandelion" due to its special design. To perfectly showcase this Space Age lamp, we recommend using dimmable semi-chrome light bulbs. An absolute eye-catcher in every modern home! This elegant chandelier was designed in the 70s by Gaetano Sciolari. The lamp consists of 13 tubular socket holders made of shiny chrome-plated metal. These 13 sockets are held by rectangular rods/slats made of brass. The socket holders and the rods show hardly any signs of wear or scratches. The combination of chrome and brass, which was unique at the time, is very exciting. All in all, a beautiful design object! Gaetano Sciolari's first designs in the fifties were Sputnik-inspired pendant lights. In the 1960s he created sophisticated, futuristic and sharp chandeliers in a classical style. The lines were clean and sculptural and materials such as crystal and ice glass sparkled with a sumptuously luxurious coolness and he began to combine brass with chrome. Gaetano Sciolari was the founder and the first president of the trade association of Italian manufacturers of lighting fixtures, the AIDI.
