Seller's description

for Mobile Italia, 1970s Due to its uniquely curved metal frame, this black armchair is immediately recognizable as a masterpiece by Finnish designer Eero Aarnio. This rare armchair is a perfect companion in an office, but also as a stylish dining room chair. Born in 1932, Aarnio's creative work is based on the fact that the earth is round. And he designed his furniture accordingly: without corners and edges. His designs are among the most famous and iconic furniture designs of the 1960s. Eero Aarnio was also one of the first Finnish designers to work with man-made materials such as fiberglass, acrylic and plastic. His Ball Chair from 1963, a fiberglass seat shell with a round opening and padded interior, and the Bubble Chair became particularly well-known. Aarnio won the American Industrial Design Award in 1968 for his Pastilli chair, which was manufactured by Poltrona Frau. Many of his works can be seen in museums, including the Museum of Modern Art (MoMa) in New York, the Victoria and Albert Museum in London and the Centre Pompidou in Paris.
