Italy 1969 Stunning set of 4 “Golem SD51” dining chairs designed by Vico Magistretti for Poggi in 1969. The unique frame of the chairs is made of black highly lacquered wood and the seats are upholstered in black high quality leather. These chairs are very elegant in their graceful lines and at the same time embody a linear simplicity. The element that serves as a backrest is slightly profiled to adapt to the sitting position. This is one of the very few cases where the reference to the past does not occur through the resumption of anonymous types and models, as Magistretti was used to. He revisited this formal typology with the collection of Koube chairs designed for the Japanese brand Aidec. Vico Magistretti was born in Milan (1920 – 2006). He graduated in architecture and today his studio mainly carries out urban architecture projects, industrial design and furniture. He was a member of several juries and participated in many exhibitions, both in Italy and abroad. His products were manufactured by Artemide, Cassina, Knoll International and others. Fifteen of his creations are exhibited in the Collection of Modern Art in New York. Place of origin: Italy Period: 1970 – 1979 Date of manufacture: ca. 1969
