France 1970s A very elegant coffee table featuring 4 bronze Chinese "Gansu Flying Horses" in the Hollywood Regency style. The Gansu Flying Horse is a Chinese bronze sculpture dating to the 2nd century AD. Discovered in Gansu Province in 1969, it is a remarkable example of three-dimensional form and animal portraiture. Each horse rests without pressure on a flying swallow, perfectly balanced. The horses' heads support the large and thick glass table top measuring 120 x 120 cm. The horses' tails support a smaller glass table top measuring 60 x 60 cm. The corners are connected by square brass tubes. The table feet themselves are square, painted black and with a brass finish. All in all, a unique piece with an interesting story! Place of Origin: France Date of Manufacture: 1970s Period: 1970 - 1979.
