Italy 1950s Attributed to Cesare Lacca, this dark brown Italian coffee table is made of solid mahogany wood, tempered glass, and polished brass details. It has a carved, sculptural, shapely organic form and features a newspaper shelf. The legs have an aerodynamic shape with small brass details at the end. The sleek lines of this piece along with its curved edges, contrasting wood, glass, and brass details make it a very desirable item. Cesare Lacca was an Italian architect and designer best known for his bar carts and brasswork in Italian post-war design. His elegant brasswork is highly sought after by collectors, and most of his work dates from the 1950s. His most iconic tea cart was made by Cassina, but he also designed for Arredoluce. Unfortunately, not much is known about Lacca other than his concentrated work from the 1950s. Place of origin: Italy Period: 1950 – 1959 Date of manufacture: approx. 1950
