\nPreparations for reconstruction after World War II began as early as 1944. Danish furniture factories joined forces to produce furniture for the war-affected countries. Architects Peter Hvidt and Orla Mølgaard-Nielsen were also asked to design furniture - thus one of their first joint projects, Portex, was born. Although the project initially had difficulties and was mainly sold to the US armed forces, it formed the basis for their long-term collaboration. They designed over 256 different pieces of furniture, including the Axe chair, which achieved international fame and became an icon of Danish mid-century design. The FD516 coffee table, designed for France and Søn, is characterized by its clean lines, elegant shape and high quality craftsmanship. The coffee table on offer is in good condition with light signs of use.
