Die Gashgai sind türkisch sprechende nomadische Stämme, die in der Region um Shiraz im Südwestiran leben. Kelims sind beidseitig verwendbare, flache Wollteppiche mit einem typischen Schlitzgewebe. Dies bedeutet, dass der Schuss Schlitze hat, in dem sich die Farben ändern. Die Teppiche weisen klassische Gashgai-Motive wie Rhomben, Quadrate, Streifen und kaukasische Sternmotive auf. Farben wie Blau, Gelb, Rot, Grün und Beige werden verwendet.
