In order to be able to offer broad sections of the population simply constructed and practical furniture made of inexpensive solid wood in the post-war years, the Zurich designer Jacob Müller founded the Wohnhilfe cooperative in 1945 together with master carpenters from eastern Switzerland. Soon afterwards, in addition to Müller's designs, those by other designers were also produced by Wohnhilfe. These were characterized above all by the fact that they could be taken apart and reassembled by the customers themselves. This is also the case with this bench by Jacob Müller, which he designed for the Wohnhilfe cooperative: the four tapered legs can be removed from the seat thanks to the simple construction of the piece of furniture. The bench is in beautiful used condition.
