In the 1960s, the Italian interior designer and industrial designer Giancarlo Piretti began designing home and office furniture for the furniture manufacturer Anonima Castelli. His most famous contribution is probably the Plia chair - because it was only a slim 5 centimeters wide when folded up, it was considered revolutionary in the 1960s and was celebrated as a symbol of the new era of plastic. Its forerunner, the DSC 106 chair, was created two years earlier and has also become an important part of Italian design history. It can be seen in countless museum collections all over the world.
