In the early 1940s, the world-famous designer couple Charles and Ray Eames developed a technique for three-dimensional plywood deformation. They initially used this technique on behalf of the US Navy to produce leg braces during World War II and later for furniture and sculptures. A particularly sweet design from this period is the Plywood Elephant, a toy elephant that was specially designed for Charles' daughter Lucia. Due to its sophisticated, tight and opposing curves, this plywood design did not go into series production. Thanks to modern manufacturing options, the Elephant can now be mass-produced and is available not only in wood, but also as a child-safe toy version made of plastic in various colors. This is the large version of the elephant in the color pale pink. It is in mint condition.
