The chair was designed in 1935 by the Finnish architect, urban planner and designer Alvar Aalto and is still produced today by the company Artek, which Aalto founded together with his wife Aino, the art promoter Maire Gullichsen and the art historian Nils-Gustav Hahl in 1935. This design also quickly found favor - because, in contrast to other designers of his time, Aalto avoided the use of metal and instead used birch wood, which is widespread in Finland and which lower-income families could also afford. The chairs are in good vintage condition with signs of wear. Price is for the set of two chairs.
