Seller's description
During her time at Kingswood Girls' School, Florence Knoll became friends with the Finnish architect Eilel Saarinen, with whom she later studied architecture at Cranbrook. On the recommendation of Saarinen, with whose son Eero she maintained a close relationship, Knoll then studied at various American universities under some of the greatest modern architects, such as the former Bauhaus professors Walter Gropius, Marcel Breuer and Ludwig Mies van der Rohe. In 1941 she met Hans Knoll in New York. He first hired her for various interior design projects and later as a full-time employee of his company, which was initially called Hans G. Knoll Furniture Company. A few years later the two married and she became a full business partner. The successful company realized numerous designs by Florence Knoll, including this simple and elegant 1960s table, which is ideal as a dining table or desk. It is in very good vintage condition with slight signs of wear.
